Accountant II


Perform account & fund reconciliation of student account activity between Student Financials and the General Ledger. Examine financial entries for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with generally accepted accounting standards and established policies. Identify actual or potential issues and communicate, as appropriate corrective or preventive action for entry errors, deviations from correct procedure and/or other inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Prepare and record all journal entries related to student financial review and reconciliation. Prepare month/year end reports for Student AIR and Student Financial Aid, including account and fund reconciliations. Provide daily maintenance and support of the e-commerce payment and e-market platform (CashNet). Oversee all configuration and processes to assure accurate and timely issuance of annual 1098T statements. Participate and support system maintenance/upgrade/implementation projects. Communicate and collaborate with technical staff as needed to assure successful completion of assigned duties. Perform all necessary reporting related to assigned duties. Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Equivalent of two years of professional level accounting in a high volume, automated accounting department. Higher education or public agency experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of general accounting functions to include applicable rules, regulations, internal controls and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Must be able to prepare clear and accurate financial reconciliations and reports; utilize problem-solving techniques in finding solutions to complex accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and principles. Ability to plan and prioritize and meet important deadlines. Good interpersonal skills are necessary to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, students, campus partners, the state Controller's Office, and other CSU entities. Strong to intermediate Excel skills. Experience using PeopleSoft Finance Software a plus. Willingness to work extra hours as needed.

Hiring Range:  $4,583 - 5,000 per month
