  • Oversight and Leadership of self-support PaCE programs, including summer and winter sessions, administration of Extended University Academic Partner Programs, including degree and certificate programs.
  • Management & Supervision: Supervise a unit with 20 plus full-time staff, faculty program directors, as well as consultants, and student assistants.
  • Program Administration — Oversight and responsibility for the development and implementation of degree program procedures and practices for recruitment, admissions and records, and graduation for programs within Extended University.
  • Fiscal Management: Responsible for overall management of a multi-million dollar annual budget, accounting and reconciliation, and maintenance of sufficient reserves of approximately six months. Requires compliance with system directives, including EO 1099.
  • Oversee and manage facilities controlled by EU, including on-campus and off-campus locations.
  • Public-Private Collaboration: Develop public-private collaborations to raise funds through gifts and grants for the University to support specific programs in areas such as healthcare, the biotechnology industry, and the arts.
  • Accreditation and Assessment: In coordination with the campus WSCUC ALO, submit Substantive Change proposals as necessary. Obtain and maintain specialized accreditation for specific degree programs. Maintain SEVIS accreditation from the Department of Homeland Security allowing the University to issue F-1 and J- l visas.
  • State-wide Service: Participate in the California State University Extended Education Commission which advises the CSU Chancellor on state-wide issues related to extended education; serves as the campus liaison with the Professional and Continuing Education team at the CSU Chancellor's Office participates in system-wide PACE Deans meetings. Other state-wide initiatives as assigned.
  • Professional Currency and Dissemination: Incumbent is expected to keep abreast of latest trends and best practices in higher education generally, and specifically those having to do with academic program development, delivery, and management models. Additionally, the dissemination of both professional practice case studies and academic research on higher education is expected through conferences and publications.
  • In conjunction with academic areas, hire faculty members through contracts and buy-out per union guidelines, as well as non-credit instructors.
  • Responsible for the effective oversight of the use of information technology for registration, records, and daily operations.
  • Public Relations/Marketing: Oversight and responsibility for representing Extended University to the public and press, and for student recruitment through multiple instruments including digital, print, and other media.
  • Academic Program Development: Oversee academic program development through the creation and launching of special session degree programs, certificate programs, and individual credit and non-credit courses.
  • Summer Session: Administrative oversight of two-session degree credit program held during summer including courses aimed at matriculated undergraduate students, travel study courses, and college bridge programs for high school students.
  • Community Program Development: Responsible for the creation and implementation of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for seniors (1000+ members), and Summer College, a university preparatory program co-sponsored by the Oxnard Union High School District for the children of migrant workers.
  • Workforce Development: Negotiate and develop custom workforce development and educational/training programs for local organizations and companies (e.g. U.S. Navy, the County of Ventura, Cottage Hospital Systems). Participate as an active member of local business community.
  • Academic Affairs and University-wide Leadership: Participates as a regular contributor to the Provost's Council, Academic Planning Committee, and the Center for International Affairs Advisory Committee. Additionally, serve on ad hoc committees including strategic planning, personnel searches, technology implementation, and special initiatives.
  • International Programs: Senior International Officer (SIO) for the University serving as primary liaison with the Chancellor's Office on international student programs, and policy. Responsibility for compliance with relevant CSU Executive Orders, and for the proper execution and maintenance of international partner agreements. General oversight of University internationalization effort including both outgoing and incoming students. Supervise the Director of International Programs, and coordinates operations with the Center for International Affairs.
  • Online Learning and Academic Technology: Oversee development and implementation of distance learning format offered through Extended University. Supervises manager(s) directing Digital Learning. Administrative oversight of the adoption, implementation, and use of academic technologies including the Learning Management System, video services, and other technology services as required. Works closely with partners across campus to collaboratively address campus strategic priorities and assure alignment of academic technologies with campus technology infrastructure.
  • Learning Design: Guides the development and offering of professional development related to teaching and learning. Establishes and supports growth and quality in online/blended courses, and programs.
  • Develops and manages spaces and services for the support of innovation and teaching and learning, including the Faculty Innovations in the Teaching studio.
  • Serves as a member of the Provost’s leadership team and represents the Provost on committees, councils, and formal/informal management sessions; and oversees and carries to completion projects assigned by the Provost.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to address campus strategic priorities and assure alignment of academic technologies with campus technology infrastructure.
  • Manages strategic relationships with corporate and non-profit organizations that provide services and technologies to CI in support of teaching, learning, and technology.
  • Development and acquisition of grants and gifts from local and national funding sources. Also, responsible for administration of grants and gifts once received.
  • Takes an active role in helping to embed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of University work, in every division, and participate at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond.


An earned terminal degree from an accredited institution required. A record of high-level administrative experience in higher education administration is required. Knowledge of CSU policies and procedures, or work experience in a large public university setting preferred.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

Hiring Range:  $13,000 - $16,500.00 per month
