Brand Development and Maintenance

  • Utilizes market research to develop a distinct CSUCI brand that reflects the core academic mission while differentiating the University in a crowded market.
  • Responsible for graphic and visual brand identity, including logos and graphic identity.
  • Sets campus brand identity standards.
  • Works collaboratively with the AVP for Communication & Public Relations (AVP C&PR) to ensure adherence to the University’s Identity Style Guide standards for print, web, and digital communication.
  • Develops key statements and messages that capture and promote CSUCI values and identity.
  • Collaborates with campus leadership, including the AVP C&PR, to ensure that the CSUCI brand is presented accurately to all stakeholders through our voice, outlook, and actions, aligning our campus experiences with core values expressed by our brand statement.


  • Conducts and utilizes market research to inform and shape communications at all levels (i.e., program, college, university) with prospective students and their families.
  • Collaborates with academic deans and faculty, sharing market research and demonstrating its potential impact on program/course curriculum revision and development of new courses.
  • Ensures that campus tours for prospective students and their families are engaging, academically focused, accurate, and thorough in their presentation of undergraduate and graduate study opportunities at CI.
  • Develops, tests, and disseminates promotional materials for CI’s academic programs (e.g., via print, web, social media, advertising).
  • Collaborates closely with the AVP C&PR to ensure messaging consistency with public relations, media relations, and crisis management.
  • Collaborates closely with the AVP C&PR to lead campus web presence strategy, assuring that content and graphic identity align with CSUCI brand and recruitment strategies.


  • Responsible for integrating CSUCI brand with a comprehensive recruitment strategy to meet annual admissions goals.
  • Supervises the Director of Admissions and has oversight of all activities of the Admissions & Recruitment staff which includes the following:
  • Cultivates, develops, and maintains relationships with counselors and other key liaisons at regional high schools and community colleges.
  • Collaborates across divisions to design and offer recruitment events at regional high schools and community colleges, and on the CI campus.
  • Finds opportunities to amplify the existence and impact of academic programs offered at CI.
  • Identifies cross-divisional partners and liaises with them to leverage and amplify outreach and recruitment efforts.

Enrollment Management

  • Collaborates with Institutional Research to establish data-informed enrollment and retention goals, including establishing annual targets.
  • Researches enrollment and retention trends and communicates them to relevant campus partners.
  • Engages the campus community in developing and implementing a comprehensive, strategic enrollment management plan, ensuring alignment with the campus mission, values, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to create long-term strategic enrollment and budget models.
  • Continually monitors and assesses the strategic enrollment plan and provides reports to the President, Provost, and other Cabinet members on enrollment strategies, targets, and goals.
  • Partners with internal and external collaborators to communicate and advance enrollment and retention targets and efforts.
  • Serves as the primary campus spokesperson on enrollment and retention data.

Financial Aid

  • Supervises the Executive Director of Financial Aid and has oversight of all activities of Financial Aid staff.
  • Aligns communications to students and prospective students from the Financial Aid office with the CSUCI brand, assuring both regulatory compliance and student-oriented customer service reflective of CSUCI core values.
  • Monitors and assesses CSUCI scholarship processes to align with enrollment management and recruitment strategies within established regulatory frameworks.

DEIA Leadership

  • Takes an active role in embedding the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in all aspects of marketing, recruitment, and the CSUCI brand development.
  • Participates at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond.

Performs other duties as assigned.


A bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field, ten (10) years of progressively responsible, professional level experience in higher education, marketing and communications, and web content development, and five (5) years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Best principles and practices in the essentially interrelated areas of marketing, recruitment, admissions, and enrollment management;
  • Current trends locally, regionally, and nationally related to student recruitment and enrollment management;
  • Researching and planning processes (e.g., analytical methods and techniques, needs assessment methods, strategic planning principles, project management principles and practices);
  • Supervisory principles;
  • Budgeting principles and practices;
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes and/or statutes; and
  • Root causes and consequences of under-representation and underserving of minoritized populations in higher education, and best practices for overcoming them.

Skills in:

  • Establishing and delivering student recruitment targets;
  • Collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data (including statistical analyses) in preparing reports;
  • Communicating effectively in writing, orally, and via multiple forms of outreach to prospective and current students and their families (e.g., web content, social media, and other marketing platforms);
  • Leading the work of embedding the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in CSUCI’s recruitment, marketing, and enrollment management processes;
  • Supervising staff in a collective bargaining setting;
  • Maintaining confidentiality;
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable internal and external program requirements, laws, rules and regulations, and monitoring legal and regulatory changes;
  • Developing and administering budgets;
  • Analyzing processes, recommending improvements, and seeing projects through to completion;
  • Collaborating and coordinating activities with other internal departments and/or external agencies;
  • Prioritizing among multiple projects and working in an environment with regular interruptions; and
  • Using computer technologies for communication, data gathering, analysis, and reporting.

Take an active role in helping to embed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of University work, in every division, and participate at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond.

Hiring Salary: $14,583 - $16,250 per month
