Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Senior Community Director (SCD) is a full-time, live-in professional position responsible for the daily operation of a co-ed residential community housing primarily traditional-aged college students from significantly diverse backgrounds. The incumbent’s main purpose is to promote student success through a variety of activities.
- Leads Assistant Community Directors and Resident Advisor staff, and, in some cases, other student staff members; advises groups and individuals.
- Identifies students with leadership ability and/or potential and advances the use and development of their potential; identifies student interests and assesses personal, social, and leadership skills.
- Serve as a conduct officer in the Office of Student Housing conduct process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to two years of experience coordinating or directing college-level group activities including one year directing a dormitory complex which has provided a wide exposure to student group problems.
- One year of job-related non-paid experience may be substituted for the one year of general experience required. Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or a job-related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- General knowledge of the personal and social problems typically encountered by college students. Working knowledge of group dynamics and needs; working knowledge of managerial techniques, personnel practices, and inventory control.
- Ability and specialized skills to: establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and others; relate to the present day population of college students; deal with the personal and social problems of students; keep records and accounts and make reports; select, train, lead, and evaluate student assistants and staff; analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt action; prepare concise reports.
- Develop, organize, and implement residence programs; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; and perform mathematical calculations where required.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: Head Resident II / 9687 / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3864 - $4482 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3864 - $6763 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; lives in and is responsible for the effective 24-hour daily operation of a co-ed residential housing facility of primarily traditional-aged college students from significantly diverse backgrounds.
- This is a Temporary-renewable position; end date to be determined.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
