DIRECTOR, ENTERPRISE APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT 


California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.

The Position: Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services (ITS), the Director of Enterprise Applications and Development leads a team of IT professionals who support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-level applications and platforms at Cal State LA. The Director supports campus modernization efforts aligned with institutional goals, with an emphasis on practical application support, solution implementation, and cross-departmental coordination. This role helps manage key aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including coordination of custom development, integrations, middleware, and vendor­supported cloud services for Student Administration, Finance, and Human Resources systems. In addition, the Director helps advance the university's transition to cloud-based systems and assists in implementing cloud solutions and integrations that deliver user-centered services. The Director promotes an inclusive, collaborative environment that values service, continuous improvement, and adherence to accessibility and security best practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university. Six years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise applications or major system modules as well as two years of lead work or supervisory experience over a small technical team. The incumbent must have working knowledge of software development practices, version control, agile methodologies, and cloud-based systems. The incumbent must have familiarity with platforms such as PeopleSoft (Campus Solutions, HR, Finance), Office 365, Tableau, Single Sign-On (SSO), ServiceNow, or comparable tools. The incumbent must have the ability to assist with integration efforts using APis, middleware, or other technologies. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

 

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As of January 1, 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Desired Qualifications: Graduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in information systems, computer science, or a related discipline. Experience coordinating or contributing to development projects in higher education and in contributing to IT service management (ITSM) practices and documentation. Familiarity with CSU Common Management System (CMS) architecture and technical contacts. Exposure to Oracle tools, Oracle BI, or cloud-based integration platforms. Awareness of accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2.1), FERPA, HIPAA, and related compliance standards. Interest in professional development, team mentorship, and continuous improvement.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $5,053 - $16,221/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
