Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,047 - $4,211 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range:  $4,047 - $5,896 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the department chair, the incumbent will be responsible for program coordination and liaison relations between California State University (CSU) and U.S. Army Cadet Command. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chair and Faculty, supporting recruiting assistance programs, and serves as a resource regarding university procedures. This position ensures the Department of Military Science meets all CSU and State Center Community College District (SCCCD) requirements and deadlines, and administers, monitors, and coordinates the cadet-training program using discretion and confidentiality.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of:
    • standard office methods, procedures, and practices, including principles of customer service.
    • English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
    • budget policies and procedures.
    • office systems and ability to use office technology, equipment, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications).
  • Skill/Ability to:
    • draft and compose documents, reports and correspondence.
    • perform standard business math, such as calculating ratios and percentages and tracking financial data.
    • effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
    • understand and communicate procedures, policies, information, and instructions.
    • tackle complex projects utilizing organizational skills to independently plan, prioritize, and coordinate and support a team-based work environment.
    • Work effectively with faculty, students and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • create and maintain program records and provide data for review.
    • Serve as a resource to students, staff and the community in responding to inquiries and providing detailed information.
    • independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects and work with frequent interruptions while juggling multiple assignments.
    • Independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
    • Troubleshoot office administration problems and respond to inquiries and requests related to programs.
    • Maintain files and records.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a high school diploma, technical/vocational program or their equivalent.
  • Three years of progressively responsible clerical experience with a wide variety of duties and responsibilities.
    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University.
      • University experience and/or experience with University ROTC programs.
      • Strong proficiency in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Forms, and email.
      • Experience with PeopleSoft or other data management software.

The Military Science and Leadership Program (Army ROTC) at California State University, Fresno prepares highly qualified and talented students for careers in the U.S. Army as they pursue the major of their choice through a true focus on academics, university athletics and campus leadership opportunities.
