Administrator I


Administers comprehensive campus-wide Health and Safety programs contributing to the general goal of a safe and healthy environment for employees, students and the greater University community. Supports environmental compliance programs such as, Asbestos and Lead management programs, storm water, air quality, and Hazardous Waste management programs. Responds to environmental health and safety related emergencies. Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. Monitors compliance with safety procedures. Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. Monitors system records and ensures compliance with all university, local, state, and federal regulations. Identifies new and revised work procedures with potential for improving operating efficiency. Collaborates in the collection, analysis, and evaluation of process and outcome measures related to accident/hazard/injury investigations. Monitors quality improvement activities, providing feedback and training to redirect or realign priorities or resources as deemed necessary to achieve objectives. In collaboration with University senior leadership, maintains open communication and works collaboratively with counterparts or liaisons. Maintains COVID-19 testing program and overall University Infectious Disease protocols and responsibilities. Take an active role in helping to embed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of University work, in every division, and participate at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond. Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Health Sciences, Public Health, Public Policy or related field; and at least 2-3 years of experience related to environmental health, safety, or related field. Requires independent and strategic thinking to implement position responsibilities. Ability to develop comprehensive and effective training and related programs to promote compliance with Safety, OSHA, CDPH, and EPA regulations and minimize workplace injuries. Working familiarity with Federal, State and Local environmental regulations (RCRA, DTSC, Cal/EPA) Familiarity with conducting data analysis, and risk assessments. Ability to write and prepare statistical and narrative reports and professional correspondence. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe). Ability to interact in a non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment when responding to client issues and concerns. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to adapt to changing environments and give and receive constructive feedback. Ability to identify performance challenges and appropriate solutions. Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct. Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships. Strong time management skills (e.g., organization, prioritization, multitasking). Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency with use of computers (desktop, laptop, tablet). Proficiency with use of mobile devices (smartphones, mobile apps). The position will require daily use of a computer, telephone or cell phone, and access to a secure internet connection. This position may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 50 pounds and involves continuous viewing of a computer screen. 

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

Hiring Range: $6,000 - 6,314 per month
