Business Systems Analyst IV

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

Perform and/or assist with role responsibilities, such as:

  • Provides day-to-day leadership in the systems area of the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office, which includes the completion of tasks, projects and administrative mandates necessary to achieve department, division, and University goals while providing support for the system needs of the department.
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office by providing advice and consultation, as well as timely and effective services, regarding all aspects of the PeopleSoft Financial Aid module and other financial aid processing systems and solutions, including integration of regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensures daily processing occurs as scheduled. Provides requested and required data to the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships as needed for various reports.
  • Leads ongoing maintenance of the financial aid system by implementing new setup, updating existing setup, running batch processes, building/writing queries and equations, coordinating maintenance pack testing, reviewing security requests, and documenting and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provides expertise in system troubleshooting; data analysis, gathering, and reporting; business process analysis, and solution development and implementation.
  • Creates/updates documentation of systems processing and procedures, including the systems area calendar.
  • In collaboration with Information Technology Staff (ITS) and other business analysts in Enrollment Management and other offices, helps automate processes, test enhancements, and coordinates maintenance pack testing schedules.
  • Serves as the lead for the financial aid system module, and the Financial Aid Common Management System (CMS) representative for CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI) in collaborating with other financial aid staff, ITS, and other CSU campuses. Supervise and coordinate appropriate training of current staff and develop onboarding guidelines for future staff.
  • Develops transition plans, recommendations and timelines for permanent Financial Aid Systems organizational structure.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of business systems analysis concepts, principles, protocols, and best practices systems.
  • Expert analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize, and coordinate the successful completion of large, complex, and strategic system development, and/or integration, upgrades, or migration projects.
  • Expert communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead complex and strategic projects and initiatives and to impact technology strategies.
  • Expert knowledge of data analysis tools and processes and relevant business applications and systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Develops and maintains existing and new data models that form the foundation for accurate and timely reporting across the university.
  • Under the direction of management, develop and implement strategic plans, initiatives, and performance metrics to drive business systems implementation success.
  • Performs advanced and highly complex data configuration and analysis.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to business systems.
  • Utilize industry best practices and innovative approaches to drive change in relevant systems, as requested by management.
  • Provides training and research results to stakeholders and leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must be available to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility with respect to work schedule is necessary as this position will require the occasional evening or weekend service with advance notice, as required. Punctuality and regular attendance is mandatory. Occasional travel will also be required, with advance notice, as required. 

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘Campus Security Authority (CSA)’ to report crimes for the federally mandated Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1107 revised March 24, 2017 as a condition of employment.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

Hiring Range: $8,231-$11,990 per month
