Administrative Support Coordinator I 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

Leads the coordination and implementation of peer & contracted note taking accommodation services and processes including marketing efforts, hiring, developing and conducting training for peer note takers, monitoring quality of note taker’s work, coordinating payment process. Provides quality control of notes submitted and communicates with faculty, note takers, and DASS students as needed. Troubleshoots issues that interfere with DASS complying with required accommodations. Serves as the direct point of contact and facilitator of contracted digital note taking services including monitoring and extracting student and course information from DASS online student portal and notifying third party vendor of approved DASS students with requested digital note taking services. Provides group and 1:1 student training on third-party system as well as issues and tracks loaner audio recording devices.

Provides full range of administrative support for DASS staff and students. Assists with the facilitation and delivery of all DASS services and campus support including, but not limited to alternative testing, captioning, ASL services, frontline contact for students, staff, faculty, and public to provide appropriate responses to office questions and/or complaints that require full knowledge of the University infrastructure, as well as DASS philosophy, policies, and procedures. Assists with preparation and participation in DASS outreach including campus and community presentations and new student orientations. Assists with analyzing operational and procedural problems and develops, recommends, and evaluates proposed solutions. Assists with compiling DASS assessment data for internal program assessment and annual reports. Assists DASS staff with assigning projects and guidance to DASS student assistants. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: 

Education: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Experience: At least two years of moderate to complex, professional experience providing clerical/administrative/office support functions required. Previous work experience in college/university setting strongly preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills: Must have the ability and interpersonal skills to interact with students of various disability types and abilities, and understanding of their diverse needs. Must be student centered, team orientated and maintain professional demeanor at all times including when working with difficult persons and situations. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing priorities and deadlines. Must work independently under general supervision to complete tasks of moderate to complex nature. Must have thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Must maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work. Ability to learn and uphold the ADA and campus polices pertaining to college students with disabilities. Ability to conduct program assessment and implement new processes, and delivery of services. The candidate must be fluent with office technology and frequently used software (e.g. MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, etc.) and have skills and ability to maintain note-taking and alternative exam requests located on DASS online database.

Must be available to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility with respect to work schedule is necessary as this position will require the occasional evening or weekend service with advance notice, as required. Punctuality and regular attendance is mandatory. Occasional travel will also be required, with advance notice, as required. 

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

Hiring Salary:  $3,680 per month
