California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. About the Program:
The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) at Channel Islands (CI) offers education in cutting edge theory and practice. The program prepares students for careers in high-tech, computer and Internet-driven industries, businesses, education systems, military, and local and federal government where interdisciplinary, dynamic and innovative professionals trained in latest data analysis, security, and surveillance technologies are increasingly sought. Students are given a strong background in Computer Science and Mathematics, as well as practical skills necessary to develop industrial-grade systems as well as to conduct independent applied and theoretical research.
This position requires the instructor to teach the 1-unit course, COMP 599 - Graduate Seminar. COMP599 provides MSCS students with the opportunity to deliver oral presentations that focus on current advancements in the field of computer science. Students will also create reports related to their master thesis and / or master projects.
Minimum Degree Requirements:
Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
- Experience teaching or auditing the COMP599 course at CSU Channel Islands and / or experience teaching MSCS courses at CI.
- Experience working with relevant computer science hardware and software.
- Experience working with relevant instructional tools (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard).
- Experience working in a computer science lab environment.
- Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.

- The instructor is responsible for running the CS Graduate Seminar, which requires close communication with the Dept. of Computer Science and its CS Seminar Series.
- The instructor is responsible for guiding students through the course learning objectives of the MSCS Graduate Seminar course (COMP-599).
- The instructor is responsible for advising students on work related to their graduate theses and / or projects.
- The instructor is responsible for ensuring all students are able to orally deliver presentations related to current advancements in the field of computer science.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range.
